FAQs

  • Yes! Ask the front desk where the shared ladders, tools, and cleaning equipment can be found. We also have flat carts, dollies, and shopping carts that you can borrow. Keep in mind that all of this equipment has to be shared between the entire store, so please be patient and mindful of others as you borrow these items.

  • Yes! With permission, you can make alterations to your space, build a structure, or paint walls. Failure to obtain approval of the plans and/or construction can result in an additional cost for correction.

  • Yes! You should have access to at least one electric plug in your space, approximately a foot above the ground, as well as a shared outlet above the wall and behind the trim. Our friends at the Fire Department require that only one three-prong power strip or surge protector be plugged into each outlet. All other plugs should plug directly into a power strip; no other extension cords or power strips may be plugged into the initial strip (Daisy Chaining).

  • Legally, you both get two inches, but we’ve found that it’s best to talk with your neighbor and decide the best way to work that out. Some people split it so one person gets the bottom 4’’ and the other gets the top 4”; others trade months; and still others split it 2” and 2”. It’s up to you to talk with your neighbor and work something out that benefits both of you.

  • We stop the walls two feet short of the aisle so the aisles feel open. We’ve notices that when there are structures built to the end of the aisle, shoppers often look down the aisle and see there is already someone with a shopping cart in the aisle, and it feels too crowded. We want to keep the aisles open and clear, but we do allow structures to be built up to the logos in the floor.

  • Yes, but due to fire codes, any roof must consist of at least 50% empty space to allow fire sprinkler water to pass through in the event of an emergency.

  • No. We’ve learned that sawdust from power saws can travel and cover your neighbors’ items in a film of sawdust. We’ve also learned that spray paint overspray can travel to other spaces and damage furniture. We have a designated place for the use of saws and paint; please ask your store’s front desk where this is.

  • To attract the best shoppers, we try to distinguish ourselves as a place that values design. We’ve noticed that the typical flea market or antique mall has certain items and displays that make it feel low-end. We prohibit those items and displays in order to maintain a cohesive look and feel that embodies quality and design. We encourage creativity in how you display your items and ask that you steer clear of pegboard, slat-board, metallic grids, card tables, or tables with folding legs to display items.

  • Please hang lights! We’ve noticed that a well-lit space often outperforms spaces without lights. Please avoid hanging Christmas lights, as our Fire Department friends have informed us that those lights are rated to be used seasonally rather than all year. LED lights of any kind are allowed and are highly recommended, as they use very little electricity and emit almost no heat.

  • If you are moving into a new store, yes! During vendor move-in, we will have a lift available and will have someone available to hang a chain for you in the days after move-in as well. You can get the list for chains at the front desk.

  • No. We don’t want anything permanent done to the floor.

  • Yes, hardwoods are allowed, provided that it is not glued or nailed down. It should be a “floating floor”; any use of glued adhesive will result in fines and a loss of the deposit.

  • You are allowed to lay down rugs, but we don’t recommend them. They can be dangerous, as someone can slip on them or trip over the edges. They also tend to get dirty. If you do use a rug, please ensure the rug cannot slip, and the edges lay flat so it is not a hazard to our shoppers. This may mean putting mat down or taping the edges to the ground.
