You don’t need to be a professional painter to achieve stunning results; you just need the following items, all of which can be found at a Painted Tree Annie Sloan stockist near you.

  • Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®

  • Annie Sloan Paint Brush

  • Annie Sloan Wax

  • Annie Sloan Wax Brush or lint-free cloth

  • An apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty

Follow the 5 steps below to take that boring side table and turn it into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind item for your space that’s sure to catch any shopper’s eye!

1. Pick your Chalk Paint® and Wax colors! There are more than 40 Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® colors to choose from, as well as 4 Wax options: clear, dark, white, and black.

TIP: Don’t see a color you like? Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is designed to be mixed and transformed into any color.
Wipe down your piece with a damp cloth and remove any fixtures and hardware, such as handles, before painting your piece.

2. Stir or shake your chosen Chalk Paint® color. Dip your brush in, and apply the paint straight onto the furniture. As you paint, move the brush in every direction and all over the piece; don’t worry about straight or clean lines!

TIP: Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® is water-based, so if you don’t like it, simply remove it with a wet cloth and start over.

3. Wait for the first coat to be touch dry. Depending on the climate, this could take 1-3 hours. Once dry, apply a second coat in the same manner.

TIP: As you wait for your final coat of Chalk Paint® to dry, this is a great time to clean your brushes. Your Chalk Paint® brushes can be easily washed with warm water. When it comes time for the Wax brush, we recommend adding in grease-cutting soap.

4. Once the second coat is fully dry, apply the Wax in the same manner as the Chalk Paint®, spreading it in every direction. Using the Wax Brush or lint-free cloth, apply the Wax in sections, removing any excess.

5. Let your piece fully cure for up to 2 weeks, taking extra care of it during this time. And voila - your piece is complete!

Now that your piece is transformed, you are ready to tag it and add it to your space. Don’t forget to document your process and tag us @paintedtreeboutiques on social media for a chance to be reposted!
